The Junior League of Des Moines (JLDM) is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism and to improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.
Since JLDM was founded in 1926, members have responded to community needs with direct volunteer service, training, advocacy, and financial support. The organization is proud of its contributions which include ChildServe, formerly the Convalescent Home for Children, and the Science Center of Iowa, plus collaborative efforts with other agencies resulting in programs such as Bernie Lorenz Recovery House, Child Resource Center, Race for the Cure, and other programs aiding the community.
JLDM reaches out to women of all races, religions, or national origins who demonstrate an interest in and commitment to voluntarism.
